Default Improving gas mileage

I own a 2001 neon auto, just wanting to know what is the best bang for buck when it comes to improving gas mileage? I am thinking just doing a CAI or UD pully. My car only has 28,xxx so I don't think it will need a tune up anytime soon. Also are their any free mods for these cars? The last thing is how often should I flush my tranny? I'm thinking every 30,xxx tranny is probably the weakest link when it comes to chryslers.
Thanks,
Justin

trannys good till 60000, just chack the fluid make sure its ok. a cai will increase gas milage a bit, just as long as you dont have a heavy foot to make the loud sound lol. you can go megasquirt (theres a sticky on it) and lean out your fuel map, to get really good gas milage. it will run you like 500, so it may not be worth it, and it is pain to get set up and stuff

I'd change the spark plugs. I just did it on my car and it stopped the misfire I was having at times and now my gas mileage is back to amazing again. Who would have thought that could have done something. Spark plugs are cheap do and its something you can do yourself pretty easily. Cost me 10 bucks total for plugs and diaelectric grease (sp?) and maybe 10 minutes of my time.

Bout time for me to change my plugs and get me some denso ones and an intake helps alot with gasmileage. I now have almost 82,000 miles on my 04 sxt and the tranny is still going great and everything else engine wise also.

I bought some AC Delco Rapid fires should help a bit. Also I was looking at the Ebay CAI and noticed I could score one that mounts in the fenderwell for around $50 shipped. Anyone have this? I also just thought about putting in a K&N filter in the stock location and just taking the lid of of the filter housing?? What about the stock muffler? I thought about replacing it with something that flows better. It would compliment the intake. Anything sound good on the ol 2.0? Nothing crazy loud, just want it to sound good. This is not my racecar.
Thanks
Justin

What about the E-bay CAI that mounts in the fenderwell? Or should I just slap a K&N cone on the throttle body?
Thanks,
Justin
