Default 1st buy

Hey yall I just ordered my first performance part for my Sxt. I already took alldecals off and put my system in it, but this is the first thing for some more horsepower. I got it off ebay and it was 46$ with shipping, I plan on buying a nice K&N filter for it one day I dont care that much though.
What is everyones oponion on that part, Im new to the car tuning world.Ill let you know when I get it/put it on.
Lastly, do you think I would have to worry about water being sucked in too much with that part installed.

Thanks yall

Looks like the one I got off ebay, dont expect much of a hp increase but they do sound good. Looks better than the big plastic box too.

Atleast its a CAI! Get a K&N Filter before you even throw it on there. TRUST ME!!! Nothing is worse than running around with a POS filter for performance. My buddy recently switched over to a K&N and said the gain, even though minute, was impressive for just a filter. He took it to a dyno afterwards

You get what you pay for. I like to stick with name brand because they perform better than ebay ones and look better. But definately go with a K&N filter. And with water, don't drive into deep puddles

It looks decent.
You wont have to worry about water getting sucked into it unless you hit a huge puddle.

it doesnt neccessarily have to be a big deep puddle, even if you are going a lil too fast over a puddle it can suck up water. this has exactly happened to me hit a puddle a lil too fast and my car stalled wouldn't start and then needed to pay close to 1500 to get it fixed. (water got into the engine and bent one of the rods, other damage as well)and that was cheap because my friend's dad owns a well known shop and he saved me about $600. CAI are great just be VERY careful while it is raining

I HATE trying to convince people of this...

it sits HERE:

LOOK where it sits, the puddle needs to be atleast a foot deep to start thinking of sucking up water. Small splashes and rain drops wont really do any damage.

^^Plus, the K&N comes with a "water resistant" filter cover to help keep water out, another benefit to buying name brand, besides the obivous higher quality product. While hydrolock can happen with a CAI, its very very unlikely that it would happen. While it did happen to neon03se, it hardly ever happens, and you dont need to worry about it at all while its raining. I have quite literally driven my car through a flooded parking lot and my filter was submerged and nothing happened (i couldnt tell that it was flooded, and I would suggest driving through a flooded parking lot anyways )....
