Default Sunroof Install

So, ive graduated highschool, and for my graduation present, my parents are getting a sunroof installed in my car (2000 neon ES)

now, i was wondering if anyone knew the prices of an automatic and manual sunroof that i could possibly get installed by them

i would really prefer a automatic one, but manual will be fine.

Honestly, I would stay far away from any aftermarket sunroofs, almost all of the ones out there are poor quality, often break down, and usually leak in the rain. Install is probably going to be very expensive, since they will have to cut a whole in your roof to put the sunroof in the car...

I concour, the aftermarket one's are not perfectly shaped to the contour of the roof, thus what 03neonRT said, cause leaks.

Have them get you a set of wheels or CAI or a stereo installed or something else. I know several auto body guys and they say the same thing and a couple have installed sunroofs in their cars and had troubles one way or another and would never do it again. These guys weren't shade tree mechanics, proffesionals doing body work.

Have fun either way, wish I had one in my '05 SXT though

Maybe if your lucky and find a neon for scraps and the moonroof assembly out of it, you wont have problems with leaks, since it will be the right shape.

just beware... any sunroof install could become a huge headache... leaks and wind noise... but get it done the right way, by a competent professional, and you should be good

it'll be fine. i got an aftermarket pop top in my 5.0 doesnt leak at all.. chances are that everyone thats knocking them has never had any aftermarket sunroof, i know plenty of people with aftermart ones u just have to go to a reputable shop with good feedback and well known.. dont have some average joe take a sawzall to ur roof and tell u he can do it for 50 bucks,.

the dodge dealership here in ohio said they would put one in my 05 SXT for 150 and it would be the factory sunroof with a 3 year warranty. You might want to try a dodge dealer in your area to see if they can do it. The 150 was for the sunroof and installation. Good luck.
