Default 2.0 h.o. v.s. 2.4 turbo

I was wondering , If I slapped a turbo on my 2.0L H.o. engine thats pushing 150 h.p. stock ,would it make more h.p. than the srt 2.4 dohc engine? Since turbos give u around 100 h.p. give or take I would be pushin 250 if thats true.

not sure, but either way the 2.0 wont handle the turbo as well as the 2.4 will

you are wrong in many ways...

First your car doesn't make 150hp stock... R/T's will barely put 120hp to the wheels. Second, turbo's do not give 100hp. They may, but there is alot more variables at play. Size of turbo, fuel system restraints, boost pressure, etc... Third, you need to research alot more before you even attempt to turbo your neon.

now with that said... When i lived on the mainland i turbocharged my 2003. I used stock internals and ran 10psi and made more power than a stock SRT-4. It wasn't as easy as slapping a turbo on my 2.0l though. here was my old mod list:

Mods:

Interior:
McFab STS | Solid Shift Cradle Mod | Booger Bushings | SRT-4 Viper Inspired Seats
Exterior:
De-Badged | Shaved Door Moldings | Euro Clear Corners | Euro Clear 3rd Brake
Engine:
Unorthodox UDP | ACR Gears 3.94s | ACR Head | Head Spacer | 2 Felpro Head Gaskets | "mattdog" SOHC to DOHC Flange Adapter | SRT-4 Turbo | SRT-4 Exhaust Manifold | SRT-4 FMIC | SRT-4 Hard Pipes - Hot & Cold | Stage 0 SRT Injectors | BMW Cold Start Injector | Aeromotive 1:1 FPR | Walbro 255 | Custom return line | SPEC Stage 2 Clutch | SRT-4 o2 Housing | CherryBomb Glasspack | SRT-4 Rear Section | Needswing 3' to 3" Cat Delete/ Electronic Cut-Out | 8.5mm Fire Wires | Grounding Kit | Motor Mount Inserts: Lower Torque Arm & Tranny | Solid AFX Upper Torque Arm | Greddy Type-S BOV | Ebay MBC
Suspension:
Mopar Lowering Springs | Front: Sway Bar | Front: Strut Bar
In Car Electronics:
SAFCII | Autometer EGT | AEM UEGO Wideband | Auto-Meter CF 30 psi Boost Gauge

Hmm...Just reading through and some things got my attention. I have heard of stock MTX ES neons getting 110-115 WHP. The BHP on those is 132. The RT has about 150 BHP(what 04RTNeon) was talking about. Wouldn't it make more than 120 WHP? I don't know much about RTs I guess. Also, I have heard most turbos for neons get around +100whp. Do you know what you got with what you had graphite?

Well im standing behind my stage2 hahn kit with supporting mods I get just as much power out of my 1st gen sohc turbo than I did out of my slightly engine modded acr srt4 . Hahn has some mean beasts of turbo neons around 1st gen turbo sohcs with hahn turbos have been around more than the 2.4 turbo swaps neons.

can i see your dyno sheet? I'm sure you ACr made more power, but the 1st gen felt faster. Your talking almost a 600lb difference.

agreed... I bolted on alot and made only 119whp and 126wtq with my 03 SXT before the turbo. Mods were Iceman CAI | Unorthodox UDP | Magnum Exhaust Manifold | CherryBomb Glasspack | SRT-4 Rear Section |Magnum Gears 3.94s | SPEC Stage 2 Clutch | 8.5mm Fire Wires | Grounding Kit

yes, 150 at the crank... 120whp is my estimate. stock. If someone can prove me wrong with a dyno sheet, then that is cool. I will admit when i'm wrong.

a turbo does not get you a 100hp... your being too general. Like i mentioned before there is many variables. boost pressure and size of turbo being the main players. 5psi will not give you 100hp. maybe i'm being **** about it... sorry. Don't forget that 5psi on a tiny SRT turbo (TD04) is going to make less power than say 5psi on a GT35r. Think of a lawnmower tire with 5psi of air in it, then think of a 38" super swamper with 5psi of air in it. same psi, but more air in the swamper.

Pressure in the cylinders is what makes power... Now to answer your other question, yes i made 219whp and 244wtq.

Heres a dyno sheet of a nearly stock 2002 R/T with only the following mods and made 136.5whp and 128.2wtq:

AEM CAI
Thermal RD muffler
Mopar Perf Wires
Apexi' Grounds
Unorthodox UDP
MPx 60MM TB

And I'm pretty sure you would agree Graphite that these limited modifications do not add 16whp...
