why would you "cut" it off? just disconnect it and if it sounds bad, re-connect it.

I took off the muffler on my car and i like it.....sounds good to me..all my friends like it...sometimes its raspy when the rpm gets way up there...sometimes raspy and doesnt run to great when the motor is cold....I tried putting a little steel wool in the pipe to gain back just a lil bit of backpressure so it would perform better but its better without the steel wool....ive seen everybodys posts on here and what they think about it and not doing it...but i think i have better performance with it off...(I havent put it back on to see but I put that tiny bit of steel wool in there and it just slowed me down)....im planning on turboing my car anyway so im just gonna end up chopping it all off in the end..

what? You know your muffler is just clamped on to the exhaust pipe right?

I have NO IDEA what you said. Its 3 am give me some leniance. I think you said put in srt8 piping... if so that makes less sense then the post did originally. if you meant straightpiping.... the stock puping is pretty straight. It has like 2 bends in it. No worse then the SRT-4 tubing (infact it works better for flow)....

steal wool wouldnt do anything for back pressure. thats like holding open wire mesh over your mouth when breathing. NOT EFFECTIVE.... lol.

and no, its your butt-dyno giving you false readings It might sound better (to you) but its not getting anything out of it.

yes, I plan on a similar think with a turbo. thats why I dished out 300 bucks on a vibrant dual exhaust muffler. Works great, sounds amazing, and yet my dyno chart showed I picked up a pony or 2. not bad.

well........the steel wool slowed the car way down and created way too much backpressure....by the time you jam a whole thing of steel wool in the pipe it doesnt look like a little mesh grill anymore....the only benefit i did have from it was it kept the exhaust from backfiring so much and quieted down alot...but then again it slowed my car so i took it out...
