Default new to the neon game

Alright, so I live in Utah and I commute an hour each way to work, up a decent sized canyon... i have an 04 SXT. Now I personally am more of a motorcycle guy than cars to bare with me please. I love the lil neon my only problem is its SO gutless when it comes to the canyons... or when it comes to anything really. I have aftermarket AEM CAI other than that shes bone stock. What can i do to make it up the mountain?? [8D]

Sounds like your looking for more torque than speed. I dont think a bigger throttle body would hurt. Get an atx throttle body(52mm compaired to 49mm) or anything bigger than stock. I dont know how much you want to spend on the neon. So with out a price range, its hard to say what you can do.

well im more the type that will buy it as i get the money so price... somewhat modest but not a huge deal as long as its worth it. Do you happen to know a good place to locate such a part for neons?

That only applies to 1st Gens...all 2nd Gen Neons have 49mm TB's.

As for mods, you can go with a new header (STH or LTH), Magnum intake manifold, 60mm TB, underdrive pulley, Magnum head swap, P&P ont he head and intake manifold, Comp or Crane Cam swap, DOHC pistons, MS'n'S, SRT-4/HRC turbocharger kits, nitrous, just to start out.

^^Check out that thread...has a lot of information you'll be looking for.

My bad. I was just reading about some different throttle bodies. Go with 03neonRT's list. That would make your car alot stronger.

I had everything that 03r/tneon said but the turbo and nitrous and magnum swap and the dohc pistons . I took everything out but the simple stuff cause Im going to do the srt swap now so I have to get srt mods when I do the change over but yeah the srt turbo swap would be the way to go . My 04 auto sxt should be 5 speed srt powered by next yr.I was againt the srt swap but Im having better luck at finding way decent engines and trannys . I would start out with simple engine mods . You already have a good intake go with the mods 03r/t neon said and get some upgraded plugs and wires thats helps out some and a good dual exhaust like magnflow like some are running on here . That should help you out until you want to go turbo.

now i realize this maybe a dumb question because i shouldnt be as concerned about looks but... for the dual vibrant or dual magnaflow, how hard is it to locate a rear bumper with dual pipe outlet holes instead of the single like i have stock?

Well you can look for a srt rear or r/t rear bumper or just get the lip kit and that has the marks for you to cut out . Look around at junks yards or go to your dealer about the mopar lip kit . the rear and front cost 99 bucks and the sides are 69 bucks .

another question, the underdrive pulleys run things like A/C and other such systems correct? is this going to knock the performance of my ac system and all that down?
