sounds like a slight valve tap. is it more when you just start the car or when the car is warm?

Check your oil. Low oil also leads to ticking.

I know people who ARE stupid enough to not know about their oil. It's sad really. My friend with a Mustang GT changed his oil and took it all out and didn't put any new oil in. We went for a ride and about 100 yards down the road, the car cut off. I asked if he put new oil in. He said no. He thought not putting oil in would make him lighter and faster. The first reply was right but he didn't know you needed to put new oil in.
