Default whats the problem

When I try to go to second gear SOMETIMES not ALWAYS I hear the nasty grinding sound , and I know its not me because I have held the clutch down and have shifted gears while idling and it does it , is it Trans or clutch problem...

lately my clutch has been kinda doing that. mines alittle diff. though: when i try to down shift to gain more speed sometime it wont go in at all, untill i slow down to a certain speed. its like it has a lockout or something.

Iam pretty sure it has the stock clutch , if so 59 k

Sounds to me like your synchronizers may be worn out.

I would second the synchronizer, my first gen probe has a bad synchro on first and anything other than a complete stop it will grind. From what I hear a synchro is a pain to replace, good luck.

A little tip, if you drive with your hand on the shifter it will put a slight strain on the synchronizers and cause them to wear prematurely. I know I did that an old Dodge truck I had. Let us know what you find out on it, I'm curious
