no ac...comp?
so my ac in my 01 neon went a few summers back i brought it to the shop and the guy told me that i need a new computer (pcm) cuz mine is very dirty and he said that is why my ac does not work...does the computer really have anything to do with the ac? i would think if the comp was bad then i would be having other problems rather than just the ac...also if i got a comp from a junk yard would it be as easy as just switching mine out for the new one? or would there be other things invlolved such as reprograming and all that fun stuff?
thanks
thanks
when i turn on the ac it blows out warm air like it would if i just had the fan on. so im thinking it just needed to be recharged and the guy said in order to see whats wrong with it, it needs to be recharged so he did that and said that the computer is bad, he acually said it looks like i took it out and droped it in the dirt...ive owned the car since 02 and have never taken it out and i bought the car with 9k miles on it so im pretty sure the owner before me never took it out. im just failing to understand how the ac could not work due to the computer being bad and there are no other problems with the car. but crysler sells the computer for 500 bucks which is where this place would get it from, but they sell aftermarket ones on howell for 300+ so if its really the computer than id prolly just get a aftermarket one from howell or just pull one from a junkyard car. im just not sure if it would all need to be reprogramed or not. but when i turn on the ac it makes the inside more warm then if its off.
yeah.... not the pcm, other thing would be wrong, and if the pcm had an issue you would throw a code, go buy a ref. ppressure tester and see if he really did recharge it..... and take it to another shop.
yea tell that guy u brought it to, to go fu*& himself and take it somewhere else.... b/c it sounds like that guy is taking you for a ride... and just b/c a PCM is "dirty" doesn't mean it is broken.... things on a car get dirty why in the hell would they make it non-dirt resistant?
