Can you tell anything about which model it is from this pic?



He said he'll take 4500 for it with the stock stereo and no sub, with that stuff in he wants 5,000.

 

He's freaking crazy for 5 grand. No aftermarket rims? No major modifications?

I wouldn't give him over 3k and he can keep his "system"

Hmmm. Does that mean I overpaid for mine? I got it at a dealer in May for $5900. They did a typo on the internet as soon as they posted it, was supposed to list for $6500. All it had was a Xenon body kit and a $100 cd player....

well when you buy something from a dealer you will be paying more because in most cases it is a better car which has been checked out. from a private seller however, it will be cheaper, but yea 4500 is a lot for that

 

That kit is 729 + shipping + PAINTING = over $1,000....so no i'd say it's decent if you're into that sorta thing.
But atleast you got a nice body kit

well the car will be thoroughly checked over seeing as we are both in the same class in college for automechanics, and as part of the course do a full check over and diagnoses of our own cars. So I will know it's A/F ratio, how the brakes are, compression, charging system, pretty much everything.

Only problem now is I can't fix my truck till after christmas so I don't have any money till then.

Look, to get into the 15's, even 14's, it wont take much. If it is a plain old 5-spd Mtx, go with a good STS, a CAI, a good PERFORMANCE exhuast, header, and some minor go parts and you have a good 15 second car (if you learn to shift).

Other than that, to get into the 13's your going to need almost all the bolt on's imaginable plus a good cam, cam gear (to dial it in) etc etc. If you go with a turbo, you could see well into the 200 WHP range...BONE STOCK (aka with no OTHER mods on it but the turbo). Thats going from 110 WHP (thats with a hope and prayer).

Neons are project cars. Just like a honda, they dont kick much butt bone stock (infact the neon reputation is HORRIBLE to deal with sometimes). But if you build it right, their smug laughing grin turns into a "holy hell what engine do you have in that thing?" look. That... my friend, is worth every penny of owning a neon
