Default Newwwwb.

Hey guys, lookin at possibly buying a friends 02 neon. It's got 79k on it. I just have a few questions.

I don't really know what model it is.. it's a 5spd, 2.0L SOHC. That's all I know about it really. It's pretty nice lookin, has some HID projecters, 12" sub, strut brace, CAI, fuel rail, I think that's about it.

What is this car gonna run 1/4 mi? If I do get serious about it I'll test drive it but I'm just tryin to get an idea of how it is. I'm gettin it as a DD because my other cars a modded 88 mustang. I know it'll be nothing compared to that, but I'm just curious how it'll go.

What's it take to get it a decent bit faster noticeably? Basically just fill me in on any newb info you can give me. Thanks.

lol, well not really lookin to spend that kinda money to turbo it. How much does one of those PCMs that raise the revs to 8 grand cost? Does that benefit at all on a mostly stock motor? What if I did a cam, header, PCM, exhaust... would that wake it up at all?

the car will be **** if you rev it to 8k and it will not last long at all. even 6500 is pushing it. there is no need to go that high, its not a honda. your looking at the 16s, and you wont break into any lower times unless you put some money into it. if you are looking for a fast daily driver, this may not be the car for you

Sounds just like my car.(02 5spd etc) but its hard to tell if it is the base model, r/t acr or sxt if the letters have been removed. If not, then its probably the base model. Either way, its slooooowwww. 01neon01 is right, stickinga turbo in it will make it nice and quick. Other than doing that, you can always install racing seats (lighter), take out the ac to also make it lighter (when I turn mine on, all hp is lost), and put in a cold air intake. You will see some difference then, but nothing tooimpressive....
