Go over it with some sand paper and steel wool. Then hit with a coat or two of gray or white primer. Then do like 3 coats of a high-gloss enamel, that specifically is for metal, and you'd be set. Wouldnt peel or fade or anything. Gotta really let it dry though, in between coats.

with the recharger stuff and oil that comes in the package you can buy at any autoparts store. I think it cost me around 20 to 30 bucks.

Cleaning a K&N filter steps

1. knock and brush off any surface debris
2. spray on K&N air filter cleaner and let set for 10 minutes
3. wash the filter with low pressure tap water from the clean side to the dirty side (from the inside of the filter to the outside)
4. shake out/tap out remaining water and let dry throughly
5. Oil filter with K&N filter oil along the filter pleats only once using the correct amount of oil as per your filter specifications (found in the directions or on the K&N site) and let oil soak into the wicks (pleats) for 20 minutes
6. if any white spots (un oiled spots) are visible touch up and let dry for 20 minutes
7. wipe excess oil from gaskets and seals on the filter. if after 20 minutes oil drips from the filter medium then start over from step 1

Caution: Over oiling filter may interfere with engine performance and operation. refer to filter specifications for proper oiling amount.

If i left out anything, let me know

Sounds exactually right . I havent had my k&n on for awhile I have a custom cf fliter I use for shows and its nicer than my K&n fliter by far and still get whatI got out of the k&n.
