my a/c smells kind of weird when i first turn it on, does that mean its going out? i dont know anything about the ac but how to turn the damn thing on full blast in this Texas heat

 

No, your not hallucinating and your basically screwed...(kidding )

Theres probably just something in the A/C, I've heard of mold/fungus/bacteria and all sorts of other crap growing on the A/C condensor, inside the vents, etc, which causes the A/C to smell. It could also just be some particles of something thats floating around. What does it smell like, is it musty, or something else? Does it ALWAYS smell when you turn it on, or just sometimes?

 

They have cleaners for that stuff now theses days. It will clean out all your A/C ducts. Forget what it was called though.

 

it smells like "dirty water" i can't describe it so thats what my girlfriend said lol. where is the A/c condenser?

 

the compressor is the thing attached to your motor, driven by a belt.

the condenser, is the thing thats attached to the rad and looks like a mini rad.
