hey guys about 2500mi after an oil change me oil level seems to drop well below the min. amount needed.... i cant figure out where it is leaking from or if it is burning a lot of oil or what...... can anyone help me out here? i looked around the valve cover and there is some but not a lot of oil deposited around that and the PCV valve but as for spots on my driveway or anything like that i dont see any. i used a stop leak additive with my last oil change but its still having the same problem...... a while ago a mechanic we had do some work on it overfilled the oil and drove it like 3 miles or something but either way what could be the problem here? anyone... i need some help ASAP b/c i cant keep doing an oil change every 2500 mi i just dont have the $$ to waste here... so i'd like to fix the problem and get back to my 3000mi oil changes... anyone?

 

i have a similar problem, i think im burning too much oil, cus it just dissapears. i do have som in da spark plugs but its a lil. i would also like to kno

 

i think it might be my PCV valve letting too much oil into the intake which is making it burn up b/c i just cant figure out why i could be sooooo low so what im gonna do right now is change the oil, and tomorrow i think i am going to go buy a new PCV valve and this weekend im gonna have to replace the PCV valve and i might as well put the new vavle cover gasket i have on so that will be a job in itself.....

neons always burn oil.

my 2000 i bought new, used about half a quart every 3k. its done that for 100k miles now.

my 96, used oil, and so does my 2005.

 

if the PCV valve doesn't fix it if there is too much oil in ur intake theres the good old catch can...and if u don't feel like forking over the money for one a piece of hose and a mountain dew all boy can works great as a temp

 

yea well i am like 2 or possibly 2.5 quarts low after 2500miles so yea... that seems like too much.... specially for 75k miles....

 

Every car burns some amount of oil, but I'll ask a few questions first...a problem with the PCV wouldnt account for that much oil loss though IMO.

1. Is there any oil on the ground underneath the car when it sits for a large amount of time?
2. Any oil in the spark plug tubes?
3. What kind of oil are you using?
4. How many miles since your last oil change?
5. Is there any oil on the bottom of the engine (not the ground) or in the general area?
