Duel purpose thread!
Ok so, here it is
First of all, I'm going to talk about a short race (about 100 yards)
I pulled up to a local pool hall owned my a friend and he just bought a toyota celeca and had it painted, rims, and body kit. no performace what so ever. everything stock. But he had a 6 spd MTX, it was the GTS model (high output) 1.8L engine. and he wanted to race even after I told him he has it in the bag, so I did and he ate me alive! I'm not ashamed because I'm an ATX and not h/o with minimal bolt ons. but I am ashamed that I dont have a MTX or h/o engine. so this is what I'm doing next
Comp 200
R/T intake
60 mm TB
LTH high flow cat
MS (Maybe Spikey will send me the file from his if it will work with the cam)
and maybe a MTX between the LTH and MS
then eventually turbo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now the other thing. I'm getting a rattling sound from my exhaust or somewhere on my drivers side and it's really loud, like metal against metal (or a bolt or something in my exhaust). it might be my CAI rattling against the ****ty bracket... but I'm not sure and it's really pissing me off because it makes me sound like a junker or something, and it only does it when it starts, but after I rev her a few times it quits... any ideas?

I wouldnt go 5 speed just losing to one 5 speed . With the right engine mods you can smoke 5speeds ask mikey he has an auto and has the megasquirt and some engine mods and pretty fast . Im happy with my auto and I have little mods now until I get the hahn stage 2 turbo kit by next yr . About your exhaust go to your local muffler shop and see if they can check it out for you . My srt exhaust had to be welded better to stop rattling and where I got my glasspack he did it for free.
i don't see you putting down more than 135whp with those mods... And you will love the 5 speed and be able to use the power more efficiently. still not enough to beat your buddy's celica. the gt-s is rated at 180hp an i've seen my buddy's bone stock one put down 161whp in that little 1.8l.
only 135? isnt stock 132?
WTF?
I know that the R/T is around 150.
and with the mods I have now and these mods soon to come:
Comp 200
R/T intake
60 mm TB
LTH high flow cat
MS
MTX
how could a celeca beat me then? if I make my car simmilar or better than an R/T I have the larger engine and mods to support... how would it still beat me? does it have a super cam or something (lol)? I mean really, what makes the celeca GT-S better than those mods will give me? Seriously, someone explain this to me

wheel horspower is very different then what the factory says (crank hp)... a stock R/T will only put down around 125whp. I think i already mentioned that... Celica GT-S in stock form is 180 crank hp and will put 160 ish to the wheels.

also MTX will not give you horsepower... it will help you use what you have alot better, like at the track. Mega squirt will really not do much until you are turbo. the stock NGC ECU tunes the car to perfection as it it. The best N/A AF ratio is 13.5:1... When i was N/A my wideband would read 13.5:1 under WOT under full NGC control.

The Celica GT-S is powered by a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder DOHC engine that generates 180 horsepower (100 horsepower per liter) at 7,600 rpm and 130 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 6,800 rpm. A more sophisticated Variable Valve Timing and Lift with intelligence system (VVTL-i) increases the intake/exhaust valve lift from 6,000 rpm to the redline at 7,800 rpm, providing a turbo-like rush of top-end power
Horsepower : 180hp @ 7600 rpm
Torque : 130 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm
Top speed : 134 mph
0-60 mph : 7.2 sec.(manual)
0-¼ mile : 15.4 sec @ 91.6 mph
I did some research and dug this up. DOHC and teh VVTL-i makes the difference... I guess I will have to turbo to beat one then, huh?
as for the RT w/o mods SOHC H/O
Horsepower : 150 hp @ 6600 rpm (30 less HP/-1000 RPM)
Torque : 135 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm (+5 lb-ft/-2000 RPM)
0-60 mph : 7.8 sec. (+.6 sec)
0-¼ mile : 16.2 sec @ 86.0 (+.8 sec)
