2002 sxt whining noise, automatic, power steering fluid full ( does not whine worse when I steer car) tranny fluid looks good, only thing I can think of is water pump? belt tensioner? maybe alt. ? or the worst tranny? I suppose If I take belt off and run car I can rule out tranny and its still there it is tranny, unless its timing belt? Help please

It's normal for the timing belt to make that sort of noise.

either p.s pump or your alt.

If the alt bearing is the slightest bit dry it'll whine at high rpms, esp once it heats up. So if you take the belt off an can spin it by hand it should turn smooth as butter and completely quiet, since it's an older model you can take it apart to r&r the bearings, not suggested if this is your first alt. to open up though.

If it's under warranty but wont replace it for bearing whine, go to the car wash keep the car running and blast pressure water in the alt until the cel comes on Be sure to dry it good before taking it in for a swap

I don't recommend this but its not right when a dura-last alt bearing wasn't properly filled with grease way down in Mexico
