looking at '01 R/T
Right now I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport but want something with better gas mileage, and on my way back from a nearby drag strip after battle of the high schools I saw a Neon that caught my eye, so I turned around and went back to look at it.
It's a 2001 R/T with 76,000 miles. Red with black rims. Only a few minor body dings and the dash is kind of peeling. They are asking $4,500 for it. On Saturday I am going to look at it more and test drive it and talk about trading in my truck and paying the difference.
So I come to you guys...do you think it'sa fair price?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Ok. In what way was a good year for the car though? I have been looking through the forums and kind of reading up on the R/T's and to me it seems like they are decent cars, but my only question is the life of the car. On average, about how many miles to these cars get before they need any major work on the engine or transmission?
One more question...how good are they in snow?

if treated right the will last forever, its a 5 speed so you dont really have to worrie about the tranny, test drive it real good and see if you can get a mechanic to come take a look at it just in case!
I my base model is great in the snow, get some all weather or winter tires and you good to go!!

Yea. I wouldn't be too worried about the tranny, but my next car is going to have to last me for quite a while since I will be driving 60 miles every day srarting next summer.
Also, how quick are these in comparison to something like a civic? I know it can beat it...considering last time I took my truck to the 1/4 track I beat a Civic by 2 seconds...but one of my friends just thinks his Civic with a big 'ol fart can is the best thing ever.

The only stock Civic that could give you trouble are the new 06+ Si's. You'll be pretty even with a stock older Civic Si (99-00), and everything else would be childs play in comparison.

I raced a Civic Del Sol in my truck and beat it by close to 2 seconds, his Civic has the same engine in it and when I told him about the race, the only thing he had to say about it was the person driving the civic didn't know how to shift and that his would be able to blow my truck out of the water, but of course when I asked him to race, he didnt want to because he doens't want to get caught. When I told him about the Neon that I am looking at, he was just like "Oh those are slow and even though it's an R/T my Civic would easily beat it"...kinda made me laugh.
What's the 0-60 time on a stock R/T...and quarter mile?

wow, I paid 6,800 for my ES with 58,000 miles. Thats a deal.
My opinion is that all FWD cars can achieve the same power with enough money. So I think the Civic itself isn't that bad of a car. I don't like them because the people that own them think they are faster than the speed of light with the biggest catback they can find on it.

^Yea. That's the way my friend is. The only thing he has done to his car is a huge 5 inch fart can he bought for like 50 bucks off ebay. Not only does it sound like crap but it looks terrible too.
Another question...I got lots of them haha. What performance chip has the best bang fir your buck?
