Default Tag light is out... Any Suggestions

Last night I was driving on the highway. I wasnt speeding or anything but a trooper pulled me over. He scared the crap out of me cuz I mean I didnt do anthing. Anyways, it turns out that my tag light is out. So in other words I can get a ticket for having the tag light out. So today I looked at the bulb and it looks fine. I took out my trusty multimeter and tested the line for current and sure ehough there isnt any power. I know that the harness goes into the trunk area on the right side through the floor in the corner below the tailight. The colors are black and blask with two yellow stripes. I noticed that the striped wire goes to the tailight. Well My car is only 2 years old and no electrical work has been ever done. I do have an audio system too. Any guggestions are appreciated, as to up to this point I dono what to do since I checked all my fusses too.

Thanks a bunch.

Do both tail lights work fine? I'll assume so- start by checking the black wire for ground (while lights are on or off). The only other possibility is that the black W/ yellow wire has come loose at it's splice in the loom because the tail lights for the right side are actually after the license splice. (First just try changing the bulb 98% possibility it's the bulb, 1% it's the ground [spliced into tail light ground], and 1% it's the power [also spliced from tail light loom]

yeah I understand your situation, your next step though is to test continuity or the resistance between the black at the plate light and the black at the tail light and the same for the black and yellow. The open one will be the one you need to chase. Let me know what you find.

his fuses are fine, if they were the problem, he would have no tail lights.

Well I tried my best to fix the light but I realy did not have the time and the resources to go all the way in the electrical. So i just went and bought an white LED light bar designed for the tag. I tapped tapped into the the parking light wires on the tail light. I ran new wire for the light that came with the light bar. So I still dont know how to fix the main problem but hey i got a brighter light now.
