Default Check Engine after spark plugs change, help

Last week I bought Neon SXT 2003 (64000 miles). This morning I changed the spark plugs as part of maintanance I though it needs. Original spark plugs were Champions. I changed to Bosch Platinum Plus. This evening My wife drove it and got "Check Engine" light. It may be a coincidence but maybe the spark plugs are faulty. What do you suggest?

neon love champions... probably should have stuck with them.

are the ones you bought pre-gapped or did you gap them yourself? if you did them yourself, what did you gap them at?

Also, let us know what code you are pulling? Do you know how to find the code?

I didn't adjust the gap. It is 0.035. Iwill check the code when I come back from work. I will let you know. I plan to go to Autozone. I knwo they can check the code for free but will they be able to tell me what the code means?

you can check the code yourself... put your key in the ignition and turn it to the on position 3 times then leave it there on the 3rd.

on-off-on-off-on The code will appear where your miles are listed on the cluster. write it down and post.

on a side note, there is another cool diagnostiv feature you can do for the hell of it. hold down the odometer mile reset button while turning the key to the on position. It will test all you gauges for you.

Thanks a lot! I will definitely do it both. Just one more question. Let's assume I will have to change back to Champion spark plugs. Do I have to reset the "Check Engine" light or it will turn off itself?

depends on the code... you can usually just reset the battery to remove the code, but i don't suggest that until you know what the code is for first. May not have anything to do with you swapping new plugs.

I'll be a little more specific and say they suck with neons... They made my BMW purrrrrr like a kitten. My saabs loved them too.

That's the EVAP code... nothing to do with your spark plugs. First thing to do is tighten your gas cap. yes, simple but 80% the time it is your problem. Tighten the cap and reset the computer (disconnect battery for 10 seconds or so). Drive like you normally do and see if the code comes up again. If it does we'll talk more.
