lowering springs or red neon under car
lowering/stiffer springs lowered my 60' time by two tenths of a second. Think about how the weight is transfered when you launch a FWD car. Weight shifting to the rear takes weight off the drive tires. not good for traction out of the hole.
99.9% of neons are going to lose a 1/4 mile race 99.9% of the time anyways..... im not talking about racing on a track, hell ive never been on a track. and you cant compare mm inserts to struts/springs..... thats like compaing a $50 muffler, to a $4500 turbo kit.... well ya get like 3 hp for 50 bucks or 75 - 100hp for $4500 (thats about .06hp/$ for the muffler or .02hp/$ for the turbo)
wich would you rather have? Suspension is a great mod... but not if overdone, my cars ride has improved when i dropped it 1.25/1.5 and i never bottomed out (and i live in MI) now that i have the lip kit on i scrap the fround everyonce in a while but nothing to worry about....

I got my sxt just to mod for shows and not for go . I love show rides and really not into modding the sxt when I have a turbo neon already and lookin at a srt4 caliber next yr sometime. Dropping your neon is just a nice add. Not everyone is into the go thing like you guys some of us actually like are neons to look nice and a little go. Right swimmer.

To all you who say lowering your car doesnt help on streets and will only benefit on a track is crazy, i lowered my neon 1.75" and it made my car so much funner to drive and i dont scrape my car only on certain driveways in my town and ive bottomed out once or twice from hitting bad holes, and im driving my car in the snow right now and its not even bad, so i dunno what you guys are talking about when you say lower then an inch is bad, because its not, and it improves handling greatly, and its a nice addition to the koni's. and my springs were 160 CAN shipped to my door, from canuck motorsports out of vancouver B.C. so thats not expensive at all. just my 2 cents
Well I don't totally agree with the MM comparison with the turbo. Because they are both doing the same thing. Instead of the engine mount absorbing a take off the mounts keep all of that weight on the ground from the start. Lower springs/shorter springs won't change how it transfers unless they were stiffer. But still...you would think that they would have to be really really really stiff to take 2 tenths off of your '60. Idk...guess not. For the FWD car I see your point in the weight transfer(not rwd). Still...for one of your first mods it seems like you could get more for your money somewhere else.

.. just saying, all i can do right now is show
