How to do i race on the circuit...
I was kind of wondering what it takes and how to take steps to do so. I'm really interested on racing on real circuit tracks and stuff. I really don't want to go big, just little stuff. It would be more of a hobby thing I guess. anyone know where I can get information on doing so???
have you tried autocross? its like time trial racing on a small track. Lower speeds and lower gears. you dont have to have a high performnace car just one that runs.
check this site for local events http://www.myautoevents.com

I know about autocross...I mean...if thats where I have to get started thats cool. But I'm not really interested in it. I know its all driver skill and barely any car at all. I just don't think I would like it though.
And to graphite, I went to SCCA website but I got lost in it lol. Where do I look to get what I want??

anyway, one thing you want to do is find your region and locate thier page for more local info. try here: http://www.scca.com/divisions.aspx
Edit: I'm pretty sure you are region24 - http://www.neohio-scca.org/
The main page is more for general information of nation updates. Although a good place to look into is the "Club Racing". Here is the main club racing page: http://www.scca.com/hub.aspx?hub=1 The side navigation bar on the left hand side of the page has alot of information.

oh ok, cool. Before I even posted I went to scca site. I did find the region thing but once I clicked my state I didn't know how to go further. Thanks for the help.
Yeah, I guess it would be a better idea to do autocross a few times.

auot-x is fun and you will love it... Its a lower speed type race. I never got out of second gear. pegged the limiter a few times on a long slolom, but figured it was better not to shift then to shift up and then have to shift back down to make the next turn. (every tenth of a second counts!)
I wanted to try club racing, but one of the pros i was talking to made one comment that changed my mind. He said "you have to be willing to put your car into the wall." HUH? i said... He explained and at the time i wasn't willing to take the risk of a roll over or putting my daily into the wall... Speeds are alot higher and the risk also. I know myself to well, and know i would take it easy out there. lol

Yeah, I will have to try autocross.
I found out a lot more about getting into club racing now. It gave me a school in Ohio and I checked it out. I'm not sure if my car will work or not. So I will probably use theirs. It seems expensive. And I would love to use my daily driver but...after what you said it seems kinda scary. Plus after watching the forza showdown again last night it also steered me in the other direction. After all of their semi-modded cars broke down after like 12 laps or so. Broken drive shaft, over heating, clutch, etc. That would be expensive. Even if you are the an amazing driver and wont hit a wall someone else might hit you lol. The thing I love though about the bigger tracks are things like timing, be smooth, redrawing the track to take it faster, out smarting the other driver. I would do everything from suspension tuning to driving if I could.
This seems like if I get a race car and my license thats about it. I just realized that you don't have to be amazing or have all of your time into racing to be one. I found that out when my friends math teacher was a racer. Just getting the car...thats the toughest part I guess.
