Im going to change my oil this weekend and i would like to get full synthetic oil for my neon what brand do you guys recommend and which oil filter do you guys recommend also. I was thinking about getting Mobil 1 synthetic or Pennzoil. What do you guys recommend? Thanks

 

i use mobile 1, but i think most here use other brands of synthetic

 

I used to use Mobile1, but now I use Penzoil Platinum. I still use the Mobile1 "Extended Performance" Filter though...

Mobil 1 majority of the time. I've also used Ams oil on my Neon. K&N oil filter is also great.

 

So the mobile 1 filter is ok to use right?

 

+1, if I were to use synthetic that'd be the one that I'd use. Since I change my oil ever 3K miles I don't waste my money on synthetic oil. A new Fram filter and 4.5 qts. of Castrol 5w30 works just fine for me. Also, Castrol 5w30 is about 15 bucks for an oil change, Syntec would run me over $30. I guess if you change it every 7K miles it'd be worth it but old habits die hard, I'm a 3K kind of guy.

 

I do change at least every 3K usually 2k... I'm **** about it because I bought the car used and the oil came out pretty nasty the first time so yeah. I'll be pulling the valve cover off soon so I'll see what it looks like inside now.

 

I use Penzoil Platinum 5-30W with a Pureone Purelator filter.

It really quieted down the engine and made the car run a bit smoother.

Mobile 1 was crap. Car ran just as loud, if not louder.
