it depends, my buddy have a 2.0 8v mtx and I can take him with my 2.0 16v atx. Also, depends on the driver.

Is his Jetta a base 4cyl or a VR6? If its the base 4 cyl then youll definatly win no doubt. The 0-60 on a 99 Jetta 4cyl is 10.1 seconds.

 

Ive raced both base model jettas and vr6's. I beat the base model by hardly half a car length. The vr6 walked right passed me wasnt even close at all, a good 4 car lengths.

 

i beat a Jetta VR6 in my auto neon at our local drag strip. Not sure what transmission it was, I thought I would lose but I don't like to say no to a race unless I know I will get demolished lol and I ended up winning, my friend wasas surprised as I was.I HAD a video on my phone but it was stolen at school a little while back!!!!

I find that hard to believe, since i got vids of my *** getting kicked in my sig. Not as bad *** the supercharged VR6 though, that thing smoked me. At least i got the 1.8T off the line bad! Although it caught right up and beat me across the finish line.

I will say it was a golf 1.8T that i ran, but i don't think the weight difference is that much.

This was when the '03 was non-turbo and making 119whp/126wtq with bolt-ons
