Fuel filter help
Ok, this is a good one! I haven't seen anything like this yet....probably because its stupid.
So. I got my car at a Ford dealership. I take it there to get free oil changes(for life ). Well then they tell me I have hit the 60k mileage mark and need to spend $450 bucks to do a tune up(plugs, air filter, fuel filter, coolant flush, etc.). Well....no. I changed the plugs, wires, and air filter. I will have them do a coolant flush. Then I start looking around about neon fuel filters. I find this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...2105753AAegpoo
Is that true? I mean...two people confirmed it was. So the filter is in the tank, and it lasts as long as the pump? so I don't need one? Btw, one guy said you can't just buy the filter....but you can. I found it on dodgeparts.com and a few other places.

RE: Fuel filter help
LMAO! I got best answer on that one! I was doing awesome on that site getting best answers left and right until someone started bitching to yahoo because they didn't like me, that got me effectively banned. So yeah, just listen to what I said on there, the filter is part of the pump. You *might* be able to buy the filter, but you cant really change it. To do so, you have to partially drop the tank, remove the fuel pump, and mess around with the pump. Dont worry about it. They are designed to last as long as the pump. The dealer was just trying to BS you, $450 bucks, should be closer to $150-200 since they would not change the filter... Btw, why don't you just do the coolant flush yourself? Its not very hard...

RE: Fuel filter help
There should be a small valve or screw type thing on the bottom of the radiator, not positive though since I have never done it on a 2nd gen neon. If not, take off the lower radiator hose and drain the coolant into a container. Then tighten the valve/screw or put the hose back on, fill it up with water, run it to operating temp, then redrain (HOT!!), then put your coolant and water in.

RE: Fuel filter help
There are walkthrough's and How-To's for just about every service you could want to do to these cars.
It's not hard at all. Just drain it, clear the system with a water hose, refill, burp and voila!
All in all a tune up with labor done by yours truly should cost around $150 bucks. That's with good parts.

1. Drain coolant
2. fill with tap water and let engine run and fan turn on

4. fill with distilled water??? I'm not sure if thats right haha.
5. drain distilled water while adding distilled water at the same time

Seems easy I guess. I always was told you needed to by a kit and it was never fun.

RE: Fuel filter help
my way of changing coolant:
open petcock
drain into approved container
put hose into top of rad
turn on water till it fills up, then back off water flow till the same is draining as you are putting in
turn on car for 15 minutes with hose running fresh water into entire system
remove hose
close petcock
fill rad with straight coolant
leave cap off, so you can add more if needed
run engine
check the color of coolant and guess if its correct.
