Okay, I ordered my drop springs, first they got delayed and rerouted by ups, then I finally get them in, got up early this morning to put them on so I could drop my car off for alignment in the morning, went to take off the fifth lugnut on the first wheel, and what happens, the damn key for the locking lugs breaks, so I go to get a new one, and no auto parts stores around here have anything to take them off. Go to the shop where I got the wheels and lugs from and just my luck they are closed on sundays, so now my car has four out of five lugs on one wheel lose, with no way to tighten them, can't put my stock lugs on cuz they won't fit in the wheel, how bad does this suck, now my car is parked and my only way to get around is my motorcycle that I just prepped for winter storage and its suppose to rain tomarrow... THIS SUX

 

Thats why I stopped using locking lug nuts. They suck.

 

I think I'm gonna leave one lock lug on each wheel as a deterrent to idiots and pick up some extra keys.. I hope to all hell that I can get a new key tomarrow. I don't wanna ride in the rain with it as cold as it is.

 

Kinda the same thing happened to me once. I had the locking lug strip the head. The key wouldn't fit and I couldn't get it off. I ended up having to bang a sicket over it and riun the lug and the socket.

Stopped using the freaking things after that. They aren't worth it. Unless you are going to park your car in the "ghetto" then I wouldn't worry about the wheels coming off.

 

yeah, I don't use them either after a similar event, try changing a flat at 4a.m. with a broken key.

AS YOU TURN YOU LUG OFF THE SOCKET WILL GET TIGHT AND YOU CAN SPIN THE LUG OFF,
AND PUT A NEW ONE ON<
BUT HERES THE PROB, IF YOUR WHEEL HOLE IS TO SMALL YOU WILL NEED TO POUND IT IN,
THAT GETS UGLY

 

yeah i had the same Idea, as a matter of fact I tried, my screw extractors won't fit in the lug hole,, but good news, I went to the shop today, they gave me two new ones free of charge. So maybe I can put my springs on tomarrow, or maybe sunday depending on the weather and how everything goes at the dentist tomarrow.
