9 is a lot, depriciation hit the neon hard. the dealer offered you 7? what were you buying, did they 'take any off' the car you were looking at? was the car you looked at priced a bit high?
they will play th egame of giving you the impression your getting more for your trade but in the end they will just work less with the price of the next car. all that matters is the bottom number. although if they gave you 7 for the car they would price it for 9 and work from there

im looking at an 04 audi a4 1.8t quattro with 30k and all for $20k. so yeah there gonna nock the price down a bit. but it all depends on if they can get me financed for enough to cover neg equity and the audi
A friend of mine just bought a 2002 VW GTI 1.8T with the 337 Edition body kit. He paid $8000 and it already had the Neuspeed KO4 Turbo and ECU upgrade valued at $1800. He put on a FMIC and a Magnaflow Catback and its currently putting out about 250-260 horsepower. Runs 0-60 in 5.4-5.6 seconds and tops out at over 160mph. Now it has 147k miles on it but still, the things a beast. Quite an upgrade from his 2000 Dodge Neon.
