I personally get about 30mpg when I drive all highway at about an avg speed of 90mph. If I take it easy (70-80mph) I get about 32-33mpg. I've never gotten over 33mpg though, but I also never drive at 65-70 the whole way, too impatient. =)

Tune ups can cost as cheap as you make them. Cheap spark plugs with fram air filter...probably do a $25 airfilter.

I personally have a K&N Filter, cheapy spark plugs and new pcv valve

Mine has vtec also. But I don't use it when I'm rollin on the highway. Just FYI...I usually run my spark plugs about 20k miles before I change them. I clean my air filter once a year sometimes twice, don't add any gas additives because I think its a bunch of bull. Fill it up with 87. My car runs spectacular all the time, seems to be even better in the cold.
