Default Hahn Turbo

Well I've been thinking about going turbo with my 2000 Dodge Neon in about 6 months and was wondering if this can be done safely on stock internals. My engine will have about 72000 miles on it in 6 months by the way. I was interested in either a Hahn Stage 1 or Stage 2 but like the stage 2 because it has an intercooler. However Im worried that the engine wont be able to handle a Stage 2's power. I know the stage 1 is rated at 225hp and the Stage 2 at 275hp. Hahn racecraft says even a stage 2 can be run on a stock engine if run at a lower boost. Anyone out there currently running a Hahn Stage 1 or 2. How did it work out? Are you running it on stock internals? And if so for how long? Did anything break? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't ever turboed a neon. But Everything I have always heard is that the regular 2.0l neon can handle about 250whp on stock internals. There are a few people who could tell you more though. I know saying under 250 is safe. I believe graphite pushed his boost up in a dyno though. I can't remember what boost he was running but it was higher than it should have been(i think?). His car was fine afterwards.

I would say 9 psi is the highestboostId push on that hahn turbo. I would personally make my own srt4 turbo kit and just peice it together.I dbout our neons can get 250tq without some sort of rebuild though. If you have an auto tranny dont even worry about turbo so far all autos break at the 200tq point. And read the sticky on the top it will have all the info you need. More experinced people will tell you more info though to help more.

i wanted to turbo my car too (ATX) but have read several times that its not really worth it to turbo an ATX unless you're planning on HEAVILY modding the car in which case you would get one of those beefed up transmission kits. Or if you plan on going MTX, BUT i have also been told that it would cost too much to swap transmissions. SO that is why I'm on my quest to buy an SRT-4

Yea the way I see it Im gonna go one of 2 routes. Either build my car (swap to MTX and either hahn turbo or SRT-4 swap). Or just sell it and buy a new car. Probably somethin in the $7000-$9000 price range. Ive been considering a GTI 1.8T since Ive found out how much power can be made from one cheaply. I have a friend who just bought a 02 GTI 1.8T and put on a Neuspeed KO4 turbo upgrade, ECU, catback exhaust, intake, and APR intercooler. Spent a total of about $3000. He can smoke SRT-4s. Its puttin out about 250-260hp.

Indeed they are. Not to mention the GTI is a total pig since it weighs in at a whopping 3,050lb...

Oh, and if he is "smoking" ST-4's, the only ones he's beating are stockers with bad drivers given the amount of power he's putting out with those mods...

Turbo vws arent crap Im a vw gal would love to have my moms limted edtion cracker jack turbo 00 beetle . I have a hahn stage2 turbo kit in my 95 coupe shes a custom mixed black also a auto so hahn is the best for an auto and a srt swap is better for a 5 speed . I would just trade it for a gti I love the new r32s though but your can find a decent older gti for under 10 grand . Good luck at whatever you do.
