Yes, those are really xenon bulbs. HIDs are a few hundred dollars. Over on SRTforums they're selling HID kits for about 300 bucks. I know people who have used those bulbs, they look very HIDish, but they tended to burn out a lot.

Its the color of the light...aka how blue it is. I think as the number gets really high it turns almost more purplish if I'm not mistaken. Well, I guess as long as they don't look like cops blue lights then you'll probably be okay. Mine aren't "DOT" legal or whatever it is, I never get hassled by the cops.

I bought my 96 Neon yesterday and drove last night and found the lights are not bright enough. Any advise on bulbs that are bighter without costing too much?

Are your lenses fogged up or clouded? Yellowing? If they're still clear then just get some different bulbs. The bulbs I put in mine are significantly brighter, I don't know why, I used the same wattage bulbs as stock.

man, no offense to you guys, but I hate blue/white lamps so much. they hurt my freakin' eyes when people drive by. but what I really hate them on is SUVs, which are in my opinion pointless, because they have headlights right at head-height. grr.

I hate glare from behind and headon as well.

I think my headlights got water vapor and also got aged (both lenses and bulb, maybe my eyes too). I could not see lights on the road with the low lights on
