04 SXT extremly unstable in snow????
i own a 2004 dodge neon sxt 5 speed. 64k miles bought it new. anyways. i have started to notice this car blows in the snow. like extremly bad. i lost control one day on my way to work. going straight down the road 45mph (speed limit 55) extremly snowy. and all the sudden the a$$ end of the car kicks out and sent me a spinnin till i got into a field. then the other day when it was icey outside i tapped the brakes ever so slightly and the backend tryed comin around again. is this just what neons do? or is there something wrong with it? anyone else think there peon is worthless in snow? i would think being its a front wheel drive car it should be stable. my sisters both have 2000 and 2002 sunfires and they are tanks in the snow. and feel really stable.

If you're actually driving THROUGH snow, then your back tires could be getting pushed around since you're most likely not driving a perfectly straight line . . . since the path your back tires are following could be only partially cleared by your front tires.
That'd be my guess . . . you could always put a plow on the front of your neon to fix that problem. I don't think other drivers would appreciate that though, haha.

Yeah make sure to check the tires... I have all season on mine with pretty good tread life left in them, but my car sucks as well in the snow. Def need dedicated snow tires if you live in real bad weather seasons, IMO!!!I just take it that much easier when it'scrappy weather out!

its your tires and probably your rear brakes need to be adjusted. neon rear brakes are real touchy especially when its moist out.when i first get in my car after parking it for more than a few hours when its damp outside, i alwayspull the ebrake and pump it a few times (while moving)to take the grabbiness out of the brakes.

like bone said, if your tires are ok, check the rear brakes. it happened to me once with another car, exactly the same thing, and when i checked the rear brakes, those pullback springs were really dirty and didin't do their job. i just changed them, clean everything, and never had the problem.
