Default Question About HID Lights

Has anyone here ever installed a HID Light Kit on their Neon?

I am trying to see if I would have to get the Projector Style Headlights to use them or if they would work well with the OEM Headlights.

Thanks guys.

if you want a nice tight beam of light from your headlights then get projectors. HIDs look like crap on a reflector type headlight like the OEM ones.

Actually.. I dont like the HIDs on the projector.. I installed a set of HIDs on my TYC clear headlamps.. they look great.. i get lots of compliments I opted for the 8000k (iceburg blue) set and installed..

I havent seen a set of HIDs on a stock set of headlamps.. but you should just buy the kit (9007) and install on your stockers.. and if u like em keep it.. if not upgrade to some depos or tyc clears..

I think with the glare and stuff it depends on how the lense is on your stock headlamps.. Mine were all crappy and fadded and yellowish.. i upgraded to the tycs then actually bought the HID kit.. i am in need of another set of headlamps as mine broke (minor accedent) and i was just about to buy projectors but then i just love the looks of my HID kit so ill buy either a set of depos or tyc clears!

i just don't like to look at a cluster fu(k of light coming out of a headlamp. HID should be a beam of light not a waterfall. lol I've yet to see an OEM set of HIDs without a projector on any car. must be a reason for that...

HIDs in the oem headlamp blinds other drivers..... its unsafe and sometimes illeagal. Im a firm beliver that HIDs belong in a projector style headlamp where the light pattern is cutoff to allow better visiblity and not blind other drivers.

I have done many tests with mine with people from work as well as a ton of night driving and no one has a problem with them.. they say im just use to seeing the blue lights and i dont see it as any different then comming from a BMW with factory HIDs.. i dunno and when i run them and set them up across my garage doors (and on the road) you could see a cutoff.. i dunno very very very odd i guess!

ALSO: in a month or 2 (after the snow melts) im going to pickup a set of projectors and get the H1 bulbs for my HID kit and use thoes.. ill update my findings after that happens!

Projectors are STILL blinding while in back. I hate people with HIDs/Projectors and even bright lights in general in back of me.

The arguements of HIDs vs projectors are flawed...because all the lights are blinding in back

Im not quite sure.. i have driven behind people from work for 30mins on the highway and then talk to them the next day they say it didn't bother them at all.. i dunno if this has an affect but my car is dropped about 1.8 inches.. i dont think that would affect much.. but i do notice that cars lights driving towards me look a lot brighter than if i drive my sisters civic SI..maybe its because of the drop (although if you guys are claiming that it reflects all over the place this would not make any sence)

but its also many people do not align the headlights the right way. if the headlights arent aligned right the pattern goes every where.

of course if a car is behind you and since our neons arent trucks we will get blinded by the reflection on our mirrors

HIDs are fine if they are aimed properly... if they are bothering the driver in front of you then you need to adjust them. As far as legality... If the car did not come from the factory with HIDs then they are illegal. Whether or not a officer is going to bust you for that is a different story.

Al tough in a street racing bust, i ave seen people get busted for them. The cops were being dicks that night. They were actually measuring the height of the front license plates from the ground and getting people for that too.
