14 grand for a FUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED up SRT is way not worth it
I agree, but who is buying a fu(ked up srt?
+1?

well like i said if the damage is something significant I will not be buying the car. If it was something very minor, I'm still going to factor that in when I negotiate the price. I don't know if anything mechanically is wrong with the carand will not know until tomorrow.

who said anything was "FUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED up"?

that is exactly what I am trying to avoid. more miles=more wear and tear. If I'm going to get one, I am going to get the best possible one.

it isn't necessarily a wreck, it could have been something very minorbut I won't know till tomorrow

well this is the verdict from my mechanic:

the damage was on the right rear passenger door. just a minor ding nothing major.

This is what my mechanic found that was wrong mechanically.
Spare tire/ jack missing
Stereo has been removed

when driving car a noise is heard from the turbo. sounds like a "chatter"; Shaft worn?

Air Filter housing parts missing
tires are new
Boost gauge not working at all
Check Engine (Excessive wastegate limit)

Oil leaking from hose at intercooler right side(leak from turbo)

considering all that, what should i offer the guy? KBB rates the car at 13,645 and he is asking 13,950. or should I even get it. PLEASE HELP ME OUT GUYS!

from what I saw as far as mods go, it has solid motor mounts andAGP wastegate, cheaply made exhaust, and for some reason it had what looked like a resonator or muffler that said HONDA on it!

Most of those things are minor...

Spare tire and jack can be had at a junk yard for cheap.
Stereo is minor, can get another.
Air filter housing, i'm sure you will be getting a CAI.
New Tires = Good
OEM boost guages are known for ****ting the bed or being off.
CEL = Over boost... not a big deal.

As far as the Oil... did they give you any more info on that? Could be the PCV and easily solved with a catch can.

I would bring it up to the dealer and see if you can get another $500 dropped off the price. Do not tell him the problems are minor. Some of it they may even replace for free. (tire/stereo)

well i have thought long and hard about it, and have decided that I am just going to hold off on buying an SRT4. I have a perfectly good DD that is paid off and I don't pay a cent on it other than gas and general maintenance. Sometimes just because you can get something doesn't mean you have to get it. While I would like nothing more than to be able to drive around in a car that I have always wanted, right now I think that it would probably be best to just be happy with what I have now.

I'm really bummed but at the same time feel that I am making the right decision. I am only twenty one and would like to do other things with my money (travel with my gf, etc) than to be locked up in a loan for 5 years.

I guess my teacher was right when he was telling us about investments and purchases, "you HAVE to be able to tell difference between your WANTS and your NEEDS"

That and I don't qualify for financial aid and still have quite a bit of school left, so I have to pay out of pocket.

At least I know that I qualify for a loan with my awesome credit!!!!!lol

Sounds like a good decision. BTW, my 2001 booked a $7400 when I bought it at a dealer, I paid $5100, I picked up a 2003 PT Cruiser last year for my nephew that booked for over $8000, for $5500 at the same dealer. Both mechanically and cosmetically perfect, no Carfax problems, point is, I think KBB is pressured by dealers to artifically inflate their values. My Neon books now for $4300, which is a crock, I know it's not worth over $2500. There are so many other sources of information available on the internet that can save you money on big purchases, use them whenever possible.Remember,Knowledge is Power.

Check back with the seller in a month, if he still has it, offer him $11,000 and see what he says.
