synthetic vs conventional
Yeah. So I used to have the oil changed for me. It would always be conventional. but I needed an oil change bad and there was a sale on synthetic oil, so I got it and put it in. now, I've heard from some that I cant go back to conventional oil, then i hear from others that it's a bunch of BS and you can go back to conventional oil after you use a synthetic. so, what's the deal? can I got back to conventional? if not, why? and what will it do to the engine.

You can go back! Its pretty much the same as running higher octane gas in our cars can go back and forth between them! Personally though I would always use synthetic oil as the engine is the most important part and keeping it lubricated is very important! Stick with synthetic I would say but you can go back and forth as much as you want just that your engine will only be reaping the benefits if you keep synthetic oil in it!
And not to thread jack or anything but can some one suggest what's a better synthetic oil royal purple or amsoil! Cuz if amsoil is as good or better I will use it as there's a local supplier whereas if I go with royal purple I need to have it shipped or go to Toronto to pick it up!

To be totally honest with you guys, along with my neonI have a 2000 dodge avenger es in my driveway right now with 102,000 miles on it. I bought her new. Since I got it home I have put in Mobil 1 oil and filter. I am replacing the alternator right now (pain in the *** V6) so since half the motor is in my shed I decided to do a few other things. Well I did the valve cover gaskets and man that motor looked like it had less than 10,000 miles on it. Very clean. I never use any other oil. Save yourself the money and do it yourself. My 05 neon SXT is a fairly easy oil change. Filter and plug are in the same location. Go to wal mart and u can get 5 quarts for like 20 bucks. I stock up whenever I can.

Since my dad bought my car back in 99 (It was his first) its had synthetic. The car has 136kmiles and seems to be doing fine. I remember reading wit synthetic you can do a change every 7500 miles, but I do mine every 4500. I don't know which is better, but Im stick with synthetic for all my furtue cars.
