looking to get an answer on this one... i am hopin it is not going to be to hard to get one but .....

i am thinking about removing my powersteering pump. when i put my engine back in. my question is how does the car steer without power steering?? is there a big difference??

i am thinking about going to the junk yard in a few weeks when it starts to get nicer out and get me somethings... the tensioner assembly would be one of them so i could cut off the peace where the powersteering pump mounts to??

even to those that had ur pump go bad or anything how hard did it steer??

Uh... neons arent too nice without P/S

 

My question is Why? Driving a car after the PS goes out is hard. If you do that after a few months you'll have a very strong upper body. Trust me once you have PS you'll never want to give it up.

 

all i am looking to do is to get some extra poneys.... and i am talking to a friend that did a 2.4 swap in a first gen and said it was not to bad.... i am just trying to get ALOT of options because it is kinda big deal to change if i dont like it....

 

i bought my neon without powersteering and it sucks...i wouldnt do it if your neon is going to be a daily driver

 

Good point. If your car is your daily driver than dont do it.

 

Been driving my neon w/o p/s for over a year. Did the same to my first neon. Just my taste, and I enjoy the response from the road. Extra work space is nice too, not to mention power steering fluid has been known to ignite in accidents. Personally, I'd rather not give my neon a chance to cook me in a collision; bad enough they have a poor crash rating. Power steering and a/c are gone, and I have tons of room for more important items...intercooler piping for one

 

^^ yeah i am thinking the same way... hey ghost do u have a pic of ur engine bay???? i would love to see it... i have alot of ideas, and accually just got done doin the "loop" in my rack and pinion tonight.... so right now it is a go for me.... and my car came with no ac, so i did not have to worry about that my intercooler piping had enough room, but i like the look of NOTHING under the engine bay.... well exept for a big *** turbo, and my engine if u have some pics post them, i would love to see them

 

so you plan on wrecking your neon? lol i dont plan on it and i have driven both p/s and no p/s...but your right its your taste...i have a pic of my engine bay with no power steering no a/c and no air box in my engine bay on my photobucket...

 

kinda random question but dtjackten what exactly do your ac ***** do if you got rid of or dont have the vents for the ac anymore, just something i noticed while looking at your photobucket pics
