Default turbo

hi i have a 2000 dodge neon... i was wondering if i put the turbo kit on from modern performance, the 16g turbo, and ran a low boost, like 6psi will it dramatically reduce the life of my motor, and with such a low psi and stock compression will there be a great power difference.

thanks joe

If you are getting either the hahns racecraft or chill factory kits, then yes it will give you a 75-100 ho increase, thats a guess. It will not affect engine life, however your right foot always on the gas cause you have a turbo and like to go fast will reduce engine life. You should do a cam and valve springs if you do the turbo. The lower end of the motor will handle about 300HP.

You can run 8psi on stock internals with a heavy foot with no problems. You should do a cam and valve springs though.

The Hahn Racecraft kits are built for stock internals so you will be ok.

I do however suggest reading Maximum Boost by Corky Bell.

You should do the cam and springs when you do the turbo.

And what do you mean by chilled kit? Do you mean intercooled?

Chill Factory is a little better.

Go to the book store and tell them you want to order Maximum Boost by Corky Bell.

I've seen it at Barnes and Noble in the automotive section, if you have one of those. I'm sure your local bookstore has it, or you could find it online as well.
