Default neons have higher insurance

anyone else paying more because they drive a neon?? my brother drives a 2005 chrysler crossfire and i drive a 2005 dodge neon sxt. both insured through statefarm and have same coverage plans. mine is a little cheaper because of my age and driving record but the agent told me that neons are more expensive to cover because when in an accident, neons are usually heavily damaged or totalled out completely because of the high repair costs on them. anyone else know this??

Well first off, I want to state that state farm is extremely expensive unless you have a house, all your toys, all your cars, etc. insured through them. They want $2,600/6mo from me for liability when I can get it for 900-1300 at progressive.

Second, I compared quotes between several cars (I drive a gen1 neon) and the gen 1 neons were the cheapest I could find for liability...

Third, I think it's also highly dependant on where you live.

That is pretty high. With State Farm, I pay around $360 every 6 months for my 00' Neon.

I have 3 5 mph over speeding tickets.

1 one was on the interstate

I dunno how I pulled the one on an interstate off... doing 80 in a 75mph zone, cop flipped a u-turn and pulled me over. I was passing a vehicle!! took it to court, appearently that "5 mph" you get to pass some one doesn't really apply in actual cases. Lost, paid a 70 dollar ticket.

anywho, I dunno how much I pay, but I know its high. 20 with 3 speeding tickets (ALL FOR 5 OVER)!!!

Ya that sucks dude.. im 19 with the 2.. one was 40kms over (knocked down to 28 over) and the other was 55 over (not knocked down at all) (and when i talked to the prosecuter at court i worked a deal where he didn't request my license be suspended and then he talked the judge outta suspending my license).. This was before they introduced the 50+km/h over auto 2k fine, minimum 60 day license suspension, car impound and possible jail time..

Talked to my insurance company prior to this and they saidpectthat all speeding tickets look the same to them (5 over or 55 over) as long as the offence is speeding they all affect your rates the same way! So im lucky in that respect.. My first ticket comes off in november and then the 55 over should be off when im 22.. so by the time im 25 im hoping to have my skyline and have an alright rate (although the rate will still be huge because of the twin turbo engine)!
