Poor fuel economy
Hello, This is my first time here. I have a 2003 Dodge SX 2.0 (Canada) Neon (U.S.) I bought the car new in Sept 2003. It is the base model - nothing fancy. It only gets about 300 kilometers (180 miles approx) per tank. It was much worse at the beginning! The tank is supposed to be 47 litres (about 12 gallons - I think) but I've never been able to squeeze more than 38 litres into it even when the gas light has been on for 'a while.' I love the car apart from this problem (and the rough stopping which is another story) Has anyone else had poor fuel economy problems with their new 2003 Neon??
Its about right if you are driving in city only.
My 96 Neon with 156k kms runs about 450kms per tank (roughly 1 litre I drive about 12 kms) on highway and less than 400kms (usually around 380kms at roughly 10 kms per litre) in city.
When I ran dry the gas tank, it took about 44 litres.

I have a 04 sxt 5 speed and was gettin 180 to a tank when it was brand new. Now its got 7500 miles on it and i just put in Mobil 1 5w-30 and a Wix oil filter for a 98 dodge viper and i get 300 a tank. About 290 befoe the light comes on. I definately recommend Mobil 1 to anyone looking for better mileage.
It has 12,500 kilometers (7,500 miles) on it. Every time I called the dealer to tell them the mileage was so bad they always said to keep waiting. I kept waiting and - it got better - but not much better. Now they tell me to wait until about 10,000 miles to reach its peak. I'll keep waiting because there is nothing I can do and nothing it seems they can do. Thank you for your reply!

i bust pennzoil 5w 30 with fram oil filter , put some lucas oils fuel injector cleaners to shoot the carbon buildup out and improve fuel economy and stick a tornado in your throttle body it works for neons cause the throttlr body has some space from the intake manifold and it fits snuggly
