i have a 2000 sohc neon, but my valves are real noisy. when you rev up the motor you dont hear it but when it is returning to idle you hear a tick tick tick should i be verry worried about this and dose any one know how to fix it.

Welcome to the typical neon cold engine knock. Its normal and will not cause any problems.

 

the onyl problem is that the engine dose it all the time, warm , cold.

How bad is it? I have a 98 and if its real cold out its real loud, as the car warms up it gets softer, but is still there. Most neons have it too some degree or another.

 

way true. At first I thought it was getting ready to throw a rod but most neons clatter a bit at the valves.

 

valve adjustment maybe?

 

unless its real bad most neons do it, new or old. If I remember correctlly there were a few people on here with 04's that were doing it.

 

well its pretty bad when i start it but get pretty quiet but still noticable when warmed up. i have put lucas oil stablaliser in and it didnt help much. thanks for the help guys
