RE: blinky light,es,key=all B.S!
The reason it wouldn't start is because the car couldn't read the chip in the key.

Thats what my key looks like for my 2000 ES. You can program your own key as long as you have 2 programed keys. I personally have 4 chipped/cut keys, one chipped/uncutted and one not chipped/cut key. My dad had a whole system for reprogramming keys.

There you go N3ON now people can get theBIG picture of your key. Man how do carry that? Hey do the ladies think your happy to see them when you walk by? You know that might be considered a conceal weapon. If a cop saw you walking by he'll ask you do you have a permit to carry? That key needs it's own pocket or holster. LOL. I got a million of them. Ill be here all day.

N3ON: You gotta change your signature man.
As far as the key, holy crap. I've never seen a key that big... it looks like a key for really old people, like big remotes for their TV, etc... if you lose that thing, you've got a problem! lol
As far as the key, never seen one that had a battery in it like that before. Mine's just the usual transponder-type... isn't this the usual key for most 2nd-gens, or am I wrong?

that is an aftermarket key, most likely made by axxess or Hillman, some lowes stores sell them. They run about $40.00. Alot cheaper than the oem replacement. They use a computer to copy your chip info to the replacement. If it will start your car now I would definatley get a replacement, cause the drop loosened something. and its gonna strand you sooner or later. I made a regular copy of mine just as a door lock key. If I start the key with it it does like you said kills the computer after 3 secs. My wifes caravan does the same.
