Default New Car (what years)?

Hey, Im looking to purchase a used Dodge Neon and really want to do some exterior, interior and engine work on it too look good. (hopefully maybe do some shows) well Ive been looking up the upgrades and they go from usually 95-99...00-02 and 03-up. I was just wondering which year has many upgradable parts, that I can make it look good. (I was thinking 00-02) what do you prefer. Thanks

just my 2 cents, but building a car for show is retarded.

ohh and so is building a car for go.

its a neon, they all look the same pretty much, so any of those years are pretty much the same.

I would say 03 - 05 just because I like the head and tail lights better. I think aftermarket parts are about equal across all years.

I like the 00-02 years and the "SRT-4" ones.
I dont really like the look of the front end and Cross-Eyed headlights and bumper for the SXT. (no offense)

I prefer the 03+ just because of the nicer headlight/turn signal combo, and diff bumpers, just my pref though

oh and supposedly the 03+ has a better cooling system, universal wether its an MTX or ATX... the beefed it a bit to take care of those lingering head gasket issues, but more importantly to help sink the heat out of the new 4-spd ATX in the 03+ years

But if you looking into engine mods i would go with the 00-02 neon or 01-02 R/T. You dont have to deal with NGC computer that comes in 03-05 models. So your mods wouldnt be learned by the computer.

Now that you mentioned that, thats a VERY good observation and good advice... wish I didnt have NGC to deal with... not going to help me 100% on the hho gen mod either (gotta buy or make and EFIE box to deal with the NGC s***).

03-05s are the best to mod for shows have better tails and headlights to chose from and the mopar lit kit fits better and modding for show is just as nice as modding for go . Seeing mine has more show than go mods. Plus you can find 03-05s with lower mileage and some with warrenty still maybe.
