i havent posted in a while, and i have a problem
i have a loud knock, almost a loud tick, once it heats up its there, i just changed my oil,but was making the sound before also, its been going on for about two weeks now and i thought the oil change might do it.
but no luck.
it goes away after you go over idle, do i have a bad lifter, or is somthing loose? it was makin noise today when i got home from work, and it kept knockin all the way until the car died(i turned off the key).
ALSO I HIT A BIRD THE OTHER DAY and knocked out my left head light, does any body have one they want to sell?
thanks for the input,
chris

I would guess chances are that you have the same "tick" that plagues a lot of 2.0s... believe it or not, it is very common and somewhat "normal" depending who you ask. The reality is, it is a slight slop in tolerance between the rocker arms and the pillow-blocks, and a moderate oiling issuethat eventually lead to this. A lot of Neon owners have had the same "tick." There are ways to get rid of this if you are willing to make the time and investment, or you can just live with the tick... in most cases, it isnt a direct detriment to performance.
My only concern is that you mentioned that it gets louder after the car heats up. Some people say that the "tick" is the loudest at a cold start, then subsides as the engine heats up. Other than that, your symptoms of the "tick" seem to be on-par with everyone else that has a ticking 2.0... especially the whole only-ticking-at-idle-but-goes-away-above-that statement.
