Default Problems

Hey guys well i was on my way home today after driving around town for a couple of hours. Now the car stalled on the way home. Remeber i have an auto. Started back up no problems. Got a little further and the car kept trying to die on me. Pulled over and poped the hood. Heard some hissing behind the battery. Checked oil level (little over) and then looked at the tranny fluid. It was dark. Babyed it home and looked again. No leaks. Smelled the tranny fluid and it smelled burnt. Now i can tell i need to change the tranny fluid. Questions is how. I know it has been up here before and two is could this be the cause of my problems on the way home? No codes though.
EDIT: Ok guys i am doing the tranny flush tommorrow morning. I found out how to do it. Also planning a coolant flush tuesday. Will keep you guys updated.

Yes, this is very possible, especially if the sludge plugged one of your cooling lines and it started overheating. It doesn't take much time to overheat and weld up your clutch packs.

I would say that after you get done, if your car drives/shifts normal, then you are probably okay though... either way keep us posted.

Alright the flush is done. Pops stripped a bolt but we fixed it. Took it out and it shifted fine. It tried to die on me twice. First time it just bogged really badly. Second time it started bogging so i popped it into neutral and then back in drive and no problem. Shifting is fine so that is good. So we will see what happens over the next few days and weeks.

Hmm... maybe the torque converter isn't unlocking right, could be for a few different reasons... but that's assuming it's the tranny and not just a random problem with the motor. Let us know what ya come up with!

Possbily, seems to be a popular problem lately with our cars. Age sucks.

Everyone thinks that cats are clogged and they're the problem and most of the time that's wrong...

I replaced mine with a high flow cat @ 95,000 miles and the exhaust guy said it looked fine.

could be. If you go WOT does it just bog? Or just random times it'll bog down?
