Default Sentry key problems??? Please help!!

I have a 2004 Neon SE and lately it's been giving me the most confusing problems. Sometimes when I start it, it will run for about 2 seconds and shut off instantly. It will do this three to four times before it shuts down and won't start at all. Then I let it sit for a few minutes and sometimes it will start with no problems. Sometimes it won't. The times it's wouldn't start after a short wait, I've let it sit over night and come back to it and it started with no worries. I thought this might be a problem with the chip in the key, so I started carrying both keys with me and still not working. I still have both original keys not copies. Has anyone else had similar issues? If anyone knows how to fix this and what to do and what it will cost, please fill me in because I'm stumped.

Just curious about the mileage on the vehicle? It may be the sentry key ring around your ignition cylinder that may be bad. Has anyone tried putting in a remote starter or anything in that you know of? Let me know what you come up with.

Mileage on the car is 75K. There has never been anything installed on the car. What all does the system consist of?

There is a ring type of collar around the key cylinder and then the brain, which is in the center, under your dashmat. You may want to see if a dealer will flash the cpu and reprogram only the keys you have also not knowing how many have been programmed to the car in the past.

The car sat for two days because it wouldn't start, but I just went outside and it started with no problems. I will keep searching for a problem. I would think that if it's a relay, it would never start, but I will check them anyway.

ok next thing to check is if the security light blinks when the car shuts down? Try to start it but do not turn the ignition off. When the cars stalls check for the blinking red led. That will tell you 50/50 that there is a key code problem.

mine had an intermittent starting problem. sometimes it would start and sometimes not, had everything checked. the battery, alternator and starter, and everything checked out a okay. also the horn worked sometimes too. after like three month's i finally figured it out. def. check your relays because that was the base of my problems for the starter and horn. I replaced both relays which are the same part number and everything is back to normal now.

I'm almost positive it's a security system problem. I looked up in the owners manual what the security light should be doing. It's supposed to come on for three seconds when the car is turned on for a bulb check along with all of the other lights on the dash. The times when it starts with no problems, it does come on and goes out like it should. The times it doesn't start, it never comes on.
