the color of the wire will depend on if the owner before you went with standard colors, like blue for the remote. The best way to tell is to follow the wire from back to front and see where it goes. i would personally say go with a 4 channel amp for your six main speakers, but thats since i have a 4 channel powering my six speakers. they all have plenty of power while still being clear with no noticeable distortion. from what i have been reading it sounds like you are going for sound quality over loudness. if that is the case look at the sensitivity of the amps and speakers you are looking at. the high the number is the better sound quality you will get. also look and try to match up your amp and speakers by ohms and watts so you dont over power your speakers. i know some people who are all about getting every thing from one brand or another. i do not see much of an advantage other then it will be easy to match your amp with your speakers. my system i have a mix of kenwood, kicker, bostion acoustics, mtx, alpine and pioneer. hope this helps you in looking for a system

I am looking into getting some speakers for the instrument panel, rear deck and front doors to start with, then later on buy an amp and two 10" subs. I have been looking into the company Focal and have heard good things so far, would you say they are a good audio company? Since I am new to audio I have no idea what the difference between component and just regular speakers. My car at one time had an audio system installed and the guy put tweeters in each one of my doors above the speaker, which he drilled holes for. I would like to mount speakers up on the instrument cover, since I have tweeters already and most speakers have tweeters integrated in them. I was looking into Focal speakers for the front doors, and rear deck then putting some 50 dollar mtx speakers for under the instrument. Then later on buy a 2 mtx subs and make my own sub box to conserve some trunk space. If you know a good amplifier company thats not too much money, please tell, I am not looking to spend over 1k in audio.

Thank you for your help!

I believe your right. It should be blue. My RCA's came with the blue remote wire together with the RCA's. Between the two males is about 4 to 7 inches of remote wire on both ends. I thought that was weird but it made install time faster.

Thanks for the info guys.

I am still thinking about this, If i go through with it i would have all my speakers by the first week in november, then after the winter buy an amp and 2 10's. I would also get rid of the headunit i have now because it is old and doesn't keep its settings.

And KARR,

That website is quite a bit more expensive than the other site I was looking at. 289.99 for component fronts there and only 209.99 at soniceletronix.

I also have 1 more question I was looking at the jl g6600 amp, and jl 10w3v3-4, so does the output of the amp have to match the input on the sub, for example the amp is 1200watts and the subs are 600 watts? I was reading how they have so many ohms going out and only so many watts in certain ports on the amp.
