Well to answer your question on the first part. The jl w3 is a SOUND QUALITY sub. Its not going to blow your windows out but the sound your going to get out of them will be crisp with the right box. ALso that is why you dont need too much power. They are more effiecient than a SPL sub. So They use the power you give them better. Same goes for the front amd rear speakers. For sound imaging you always power your fornts mor than the rears. The rears are just "fill" like a 5.1 surround sound. Also they use less power and more efficient. If you just wanna go sound then yea you can go cheaper and get like the polks or even the alpine componets are loud but a little "scratchy" for my liking.

The subs and amps that u have picked out are fine. If i am reading your question on airspace right, i think you maybe asking about the volume of the sub box. So if you make a sub box try to make it around the volume that recommended for each sub, as this will give you max performance. As for you question on gap i am not sure what u mean on that, i am guessing you are talking about a port but i dont know.

I have a sweet set up coming up for sale soon. 2 12" jl audio w3v3, a jl audio 500/1 mono amp and sealed box. Also the wattage on sonic electronics site i think is wrong. The rms on thos tens is like 250-300. Dont know why they are saying 500-1000. Check the actual jl site to be certain.

Ok, so what would you suggest is a good setup (Amps, subs and speakers) for under 1k.

By gap I mean, Isn't their a space where the air can get in the sub?
Yes I was refering to the volume, If I was off on the volume of the box, would if effect the sound alot or barely noticeable? I really don't need max performance, only time they would be moderately loud is when I'm at shows.

If you have a sealed box there should be no gap, hens the name sealed. But if you go with a port yah there will be a gap/port which will allow air to move in and out of the box. A port box will give you some more bass but your low range will not be as tight as they would if you use a sealed box. If you go over the range for volume of the box i dont know if it dose any thing noticeable, but if you go lower the the range then you run the risk of have the sub over extend its self. which is where the voice coil goes beyond the magnet and where it is designed to go. The only other thing i can think of for gap is the area between the cone and the yellow dust cover. If air gets in there its fine, some subs are designed to have air go around that area to cool down the magnet.

Ok, so is it better to get a mono amp for just the subs and a 4 channel amp for the speakers? Or is it better to get a 6 channel amp for everything?

Yah i agree with contagious19 on the amps. I dont know if you can get 6x9 components from a manufacture. I think you may have to build your own set, but i have not looking at speakers for a while now so some one maybe making some now.
