the ohms and watts will depend on how you wire the subs, the two ways in doing them are either parallel or in series. i cant remember what way increase the ohms and what way decrease the ohms but i think if u do them in parallel the ohms decrease. if your amp has a higher out put of watts you can risk blowing your sub easier but since u have two i dont think it would be a problem. im not too sure on that since i have a 800w amp powering a 1200w sub so i didnt have to worry about that problem.
Ok I was hoping this question was gonna come up. The best amp for a sub is called a mono block. Basically the lower the ohms are the louder and more power you get from the amp. So you have two 4 ohm subs and a 1000 watt @2ohms mono amp. You want to parallel the subs together to get to 2 ohms. So you take + from one sub to + of the other sub and hook it up to + output of the amp. Same for -. Now you have a 2 ohm load and are gonna get the most performance out of it. Lets say you have whats called Dual Voice coil Subs. Now you have 2 coils going into the sub. Good if your running a low ohmage amp. Same principle as above if you get dual 4 ohm, but your gonna do a little extra. Sub 1 + tied to +. Sub 2 + tied to +. Now if you have two set of wires that are 2 ohms each. If you want to raise it to 8 ohm (they call this series) take the - of sub 1 and tie it to + of sub 2. Now you are left with one + and one -. Hook up to output of amp. If you want 1 ohms (parallel) take + of both and tie together and hook up to output of amp. Same for -. I could go on for hours but i wont. If anyone has any ?'s pm or start a thread and i will write it up for everyone. Hope that helped
yea a 2 ohm amp is best, if u get a 4 ohm and bridge ur subs and are running 2 ohm dan ur amp would just overheat and ****. my boy was wondering why his was heating up wen i told him about it, he was at 1 ohm on a 2 ohm amp and it wasnt stable
im glad some one on here was able to go more in depth on the ohms then i did. its been a while since i did any thing to my system. just wondering what kind of sub box are u looking to use sealed or port?
That's where I get my stuff when I'm not getting it from the local place that I get VERY good deals from.
So you guys are suggesting that I buy an amp just for the subs? Right? If so, I would be able to use this amp( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...dio+G1700.html) to power two of these ( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+10W3v3-2.html)?
Then just get a 4 channel amp to run all the speakers but the little front deck speakers like this one (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...dio+A6450.html)??
About the sub box, I was going to make one that is like what a member did on 2gn, of course I can't find it now but they had the sub mounted in the space between the rear wheel well and the rear of the trunk. I can make my own but their is something I have to know. What is it with airspace?, you can basically imagine how small the box will be, I'm not shooting for a massive sub box, I would still like to have some functionality with my trunk. They would stick out a little bit from the wheel wells, and I would mold the wheel well to the sub box, well it will look like I did. Do I have to leave a gap so that air can move freally throughout the sub? Do you think that would be sufficient airspace in there, so that it wouldn't affect the performance of the sub too much?

And yet anouther question, Whats up with jk's speakers, they don't have much watts to them? I was looking at polks that are a little bit cheaper and they have alot of watts comapred to the jl's. Their front deck speakers can handle 105watts while jl is only 50 watts max.
