Just bought a "new to me" 2001 Neon. Questions?
Just bought today a new to me 2001 neon. It has 78k miles on it. Looks clean. I did have them throw in the extended warranty. Its only for 90 days though (3rd party insurance).
Question? How good are the transmissions? My previous experience says Crystler doesnt have good transmisisons. Is the neon better? I am going to take it and have it drained. Looks dirty. Not burnt or anything. Shifts fine.
Any areas I should fix or be concerned? Timing belt, etc?
What about upgrades? I saw a few that have dual tip exhaust (srt or rt bolt-on)? K&N filters? Etc?
Thanks...

I am assuming you bought an atx?
The atx are ok, I havn't heard many stories of them breaking down, the mtx's are way better and faster.
Nothing really to be that concerned about. Timing belt regularly doesn't have to be chnaged till about 100k. I would change the spark plugs If I were you.

I have had many transmissions done. Not all shops are the same. Best bet, go with someone who has been there 15+ years OR ask them about what parts or how to beaf it up. The ones who say "stock is good" walk away. Been there done that. They guys who know performance know what to look for and how to prefent it from happening again (more line pressure and external coolers are a start).
