Smile question on a 2002 Neon SXT

My daughter has a 2002 Neon SXT with a 2L engine. She was telling me that there was a problem, but couldn't describe it well, she felt it was with the steering. I went to check the power steering fluid and noticed a pulley to the left of the power steering fluid container had no belt on it and the pulley below it had not belt on it.

I have looked in her owners manual and can't seem to figure out what belt that was and why she was able to drive without it.

Could anyone tell me if they know what belt that is?

Thanks!

Ha ha man i had the same problem.
-you can drive without that belt.
-its a serpintine belt,autozone($7.99)

and all your daughter is experiencing is no power steering.that belt is for your power steering.now what i did was crack a 500 dollar plate that holds the pulleys together.but if it just needs a belt then your fine.

well bud to tell you the truth if you have a car manual then its easy.remember to go in through the passengers front wheel then through the splash guard.

be thankful if its just a 7.99 belt cause them plates crack in our cars all the time and its a 500 dollar plate...but anyways good luck man and if you need any more help then feel free to ask...

ah the good ol autozone. i cant get away from that place to save my lile lol. if you can afford an extra 10 bucks, go for the goodyear gatorback belt p/n 4040515. its the best belt we carry. otherwise the duralast belt will do fine. but replacing it is an easy job
