Default Opinions about future projects or cars

I am debating whether I should continue modding the current neon or if I should buy anouther one. If I start saving up right now, I would have roughly 3200 dollars by july for a 10,000 dollar loan

These are the options I am debating:

1. Find a fully optioned 01 or 02 r/t for about 5k and put 5k into it as in all the bolt ons, rebuild and 170whp goal, suspension and exterior work, audio and interior.

2. Spend the 10k and get a srt4 which would most likely be beat up for that price and would leave me with very little money every week because of insurance. I wouldn't be able to mod the srt very much due to the low income I have as of right now.

3. keep going with the progress of the current neon, which isn't something that I am really inspired to do since this car needs alot of work to be considered any where near nice.

If I was to get the rt I would keep the 00 as a DD and a winter car while I work on the rt. I really like the idea of buying an rt for 5k and putting 5k into it because that would be the most fun and not that big of an expense in my pocket since it should be the same for insurance as the 00. I would love to get an srt4 but I really don't feal that I can afford it while I'm going to school and can have some actual fun with it. If I buy an srt4, I don't want it to be stock, it would have to be modified moderately. Then their is the option of continuing putting money into the 00. To me this option just doesn't make sence, the car needs about 1.5k in body work to become presentable, I really don't like the fact that it has no eletrical power options and that someone has tampered with alot of the things in the car. For example one of the previous owners glued the passenger side window crank on, now its going to take a while to change that speaker out since I now have to snap it off and clean the plastic off of the actual metal crank.

So I want to see what some of you think I should do, my mind is slightly made up but I still can't entirely decide.

I say keep going with the one you have, at least you know her in and out. Drop an RT/SRT engine/trans in it, do all work yourself and you will have something to be proud of. Buying another one you never know what problems you may find down the road. Just my opinion.

SRTGTR34-

I would stay with your neon that you have right now, and still pull out a smaller loan (if needed) and find you an SRT4 engine and Tranny and do a swap. That might be beneficial for you and for your car.

If I had a better neon for a strting point then I would do a swap but remember I would still need a car to drive while this car is being worked on.

For the most part my mind is made up with saving up for a 01 or 02 fully optioned r/t. I like the idea that I have a backup and winter car to drive.
Here is a thought since I would upgrde everything on the r/t, everything I unbolt from it would go on the 2000 so both neons will still be getting modded. for instance the 2000n would get the full magnum upgrade since I would buy another mag head for the r/t.

I just don't have the thrill for an srt as I did when I was younger, there is a air amount of them out there with just about everything thought of done to them. I mean how many 2nd gen neon r/t's in general do you think came fully loaded I would say less than 3 thousand. Its just one of those things to be unique I guess. I do have ideas that havn't been done on neons but need a good canvas to put them on.

I posted this same thread on 2gn and the results were quite different.

So when I do get the r/t, it will be powerful.
My plans have changed somewhat, as in the r/t will be a performer.
I might have to take out a 12k or even 13k loan based on how much the car is I will need about 8k to do all the mods I want to do. I am going to try to get over the 200+whp hump in the neon's road, and this is how I plan on doing it:
2.2l stroker kit from howell
moroso deep sump oil pan
melling oil pump
full p&p on mag head
oversized indy valves
titanuim valve springs and retainers
crane 14
UR underdrive pulley
UR cam gear
mpx tb
Indy intake mani
aem cia
mpx mag header
hidh flow vibrant cat
mopar 2.5in D srt exhaust
fidanze clutch
fidanza flywheel
phantom lsd

Thats just the major stuff their is alot of little things that would also be done.
I am going to try my best to save as much money as I can so I can buy the car over the summer, I will not buy the car until I have enough money to get a loan that I need.

Everything that would come off the r/t would be transfered to the 2000 so both cars would be getting upgraded.
I hvae to buy some things ofr the 2000 to finish it off
Door fasteners
dome light led
side marker leds
usb flash drive for the h/u
After I buy those I'm done with this car, unless of course something unplanned happens like an immediate timing belt change.

it seems like you totally ignored everyone's vote about what to do, and went with the one that has the least votes. lol
