Thanks neonftw87.
It sounds like you have an older neon, mine is a 2000. I'm not sure what year, but they changed the torque arms from a strut style to an arm style. I replaced both of those a year or two ago. I found a huge chunk of the tranny mount missing. I have one on order, plus I have recieved motor mount inserts from Summit.
If that torque strut popped off it will probably happen again. I'd either get a new one or if cash is tight, I'd secure it with safety wire until cash starts to flow again.

Good luck!

no not that one, i did have a 96 expresso that had that, but what im talking about happend to my 2000 model, its on the passenger side right underneath the pulleys, its an arm that bolts from the frame to the front of the engine on the bottom, its like a mount, you got that mount on the top that hooks to the frame rail, then the on on that goes through the timing belt casing that goes through the frame rail, then one on the bottom that is connected to the sub frame, the bottom one slipped off the rubber bushing at the back, mine did it cause i dropped the engine and where i didnt take that mount off and i was pulling around on the engine and stuff, it cause it to slide off the the rubber bushing

Do you know the measurement. The book I have says 4.70 inches on the top mount. I think this is impossible....maybe 7.40 inches??

4.7 inches or 119mm. Are you measuring from the right hole (the one with the washer fluid line clip in it)? Measure from the middle of that hole to the middle of the mount bolt top closest to the firewall. I measured from the second one back at first and got a very big measurement as well. You will have to pop that clip out and hold the ground wires down while measuring to keep it straight.

No, the manual I have has a mis-print I guess. It says to measure "from the center of the rear engine mount bolt to the center of the hole on the shock tower bracket..." and then they have 4.70 (119) The photo is wrong also.

Thanks for putttin me on the right track, I re-checked and I'm off about a 1/4".

Do you know why this measurement is so critical?

No idea why it is so important, but it didn't fix my severe vibration at idle. I added the text in red and blue.

Well, I replaced the tranny mount and re-bushed the front sway bar and all is quiet now, what a difference. I thought I was missing a piece of tranny mount, I was looking at the bottom side when I was inspecting it with a mirror. The mount was intact but very flimsy. I can move the center section around easily, so it was replaced--something you might want to look at for your vibration Roush.

I also purchased prothane motor mount inserts. I installed them and then took 'em out after I heard how much noise they send to the interior. They do prevent motor movement though.

Roush where did you get the motor mount adjustment info? Is it on this site?? is it a complete repair manual??

My motor mount seemed just fine when I took it out. It has something to do with the motor mount inserts I'm sure, but it seems the idle is just a tad low because if I just barely even touch the gas pedal, all of the vibration goes away. Sometimes it vibrates so bad the steering wheel looks like a damn jackhammer and other days it is smooth as glass. I have a new air filter (one in there is a bit dirty I suppose) and I will probably pull the IAC out a clean it a bit along with the MAF too.

I have contemplated just taking the inserts out, but seems a waste of money unless someone on here wants to buy them.

Got the info from the Dodge service manual. I have links for both 2nd gen models on this site too.

Which thread are the links in?? I looked but there are way too many...

I had a similar vibration, it would always go away after the car warm. I found out by accident it was the spark plugs loosening up. It wasnt by much, maybe 1/16 of a turn. I check them often, usually it's only one or two that loosen up.

Thanks for all your help roush.
